First-Time Buyers of Homes . . . Disappearing?

From a Builder magazine article:

I think we could see this depressed first-time demand over the next few years in many markets beside Sarasota. The National Association of Realtors reported that first-time buyers made up only 27% of all home sales in December 2013, down from the 30-year average of 40%.

The piece focused on one specific market (in Florida). It also hedges the conclusion above. The article might leave you with Bob Dylan: “Something is happening here, but you don’t know what it is, do you — Mr. Jones?”
