We are a society of power consuming people that think there is no end to our power supply. Just plug it in and it will always be there attitudes might just catch us off guard one day, and it is coming before you think.

Overhead Power Line Safe Clearances

Overhead power lines have some strict guidelines for height clearances over streets, sidewalks, alleys, roads, and driveways. The National Electrical Code (NEC) mandates acceptable clearances for power lines to keep the public safe from coming into contact with them. You see, cables high enough to avoid a person walking past them, may not be high enough to eliminate the possibility of a large truck or person carrying an extension ladder from coming into contact with it. That’s exactly why the NEC has put these safety standards into practice.

Hi and Lois comic strip brings us a great image of a son, asking his father if electricity is dangerous!…. Father replies, “not if you know what you are doing”… ZAP!!!…  And then son inquires “should I ask mom to call someone who knows what he’s doing?”…  HA-HA

If you have not checked out Hi & Lois comic, it is a fun take on the life of a suburban family. Scenarios like the Flagstons family are into here with modifying the electrical system in the home, is something that comes up from time to time in houses all around the U.S.

For the professional electricians working on electrical inside your home, keep in mind that our electricians do this every single day of the week. There is time based training, years of education in understanding and knowing how to wire circuits, as well as maintaining the knowledge of the National Electrical Code through continuing education classes. The Benefits of Hiring a Professional San Dimas Electrician

If you are like most homeowners, changing a light bulb is about the extent of your electrical repair abilities. Fortunately, there are qualified San Dimas electrical repair contractors just a phone call away. Electrical repairs are one of those things that homeowners eventually have to contend with, and there are several issues at stake that warrant a second thought about any D.Y.I. ideas or who the best option to hire is.

The biggest and probably most important issue regarding electrical repair is safety. Most homeowners do not have the proper training to go mucking about with wiring, outlets and breakers. There is a good chance of coming into contact with electricity and some homeowners are not even aware of how to turn off the electricity to their home, which is important in the prevention of electrocution. Furthermore, if electrical repairs are not completed correctly, there is the chance of an electrical fire starting later on. What is risky for a homeowner to try on their own can quickly become a life or death matter for everyone living at the residence.

Another important issue in electrical repair is the ability of inexperienced people spreading damage to other parts of the home. An expert San Dimas electrical contractor can isolate electrical problems and contain them. They can tell if it can affect other parts of the house or whether a problem elsewhere is causing the problem that you notice. And goodness forbid if an inexperienced person were to get in there and end up destroying your home’s electrical system due to unwitting error.

The last important issue that should not prevent you from calling a professional San Dimas electrician is cost. While considering cost is important in this day and economy, the cost of getting something done right is never too high. Plus, getting it done right the first time prevents more repair down the road, meaning more out-of-pocket expenses.

Energy Efficiency Rated Appliance Tags

When an appliance is giving you trouble, seems to be running too long, or is just is older than dirt, it is time to update to a more energy efficient model of the vast appliance lines. When you enter an appliance store, you may notice that many of the appliances have a yellow tag attached to them. This tag tells you the energy rating and estimated cost per year to run this appliance. By doing your due diligence, you’ll be able to make an informed decision on the appliance that “for the money” will save you money year to year and actually pay for itself in energy savings versus the old, outdated appliance you own now.
